ENEMY NUMBER ONE - PATRICK VEITCH
A good read and a great insight into the mind of a professional punter. His meticulous planning and attention to detail is there for everyone to see and is what marks him out as a truly great pro-punter. He reckons to have taken over £10 million off the bookmakers in the last decade or so and for that he can rightly be called the bookies Enemy Number One. The book describes his biggest wins and coups over the years, and there have been plenty of them, all recorded in great detail right down to the exact amount of his winnings in pounds and PENCE! There’s also a chapter on his early life through university and how he got into the world of horse-racing.
However, don’t expect him to reveal that many secrets as to his methods of picking winners as that part of his operation is mainly glossed over and, like all of us, the winners are a lot easier to recall than the losers. But possibly the biggest fault I had with the book is that he does come across as a bit of a drama queen.
An enjoyable read but don’t expect to learn too much about how to become a pro-punter……6/10
