My Profile

About me…

I live in Penarth (just outside Cardiff) with my partner Sam (don’t call her Samantha!) and our 6, nearly 7 year old son Dylan.

I have been fascinated by horse-racing for all of my adult life, and some of my childhood, which is no surprise really as my father was a bookmaker for many years. After leaving college I went to work for Mecca bookmakers and then William Hill before setting up, in partnership with my brother, our own chain of betting shops under the name Gee & Gee Turf Accountants. From 1990 we had shops in Torquay, Paignton, Poole and Porthcawl before we sold them in 2001.

I have been writing this Blog since June 2008 having taken over the reins from my great friend Matt Bisogno, who now runs the Geegeez blog.

Hobbies….

I really enjoy playing poker in my spare time and would classify myself as a ‘recreational amateur’  although I have had some success on the professional circuit including a 14th place finish in the Manchester leg of the Grosvenor  UK Poker Tour. In 2007 I achieved my poker dream when winning a seat in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas where I lasted for a day and a half before being knocked out.

Regular readers will know that I love Las Vegas and have had the good fortune to visit sin city at least once a year for the past 8 years.

Non-gambling related stuff…..

I am a member of MENSA, support Peterborough United (The Premiership here we come), enjoy films, playing chess, scrabble and golf (badly!).

Oh, and for those who like that sort of stuff I’m a Cancer having been born on the 18th July 1968 which was the Chinese year of the Monkey.
