Sunday October 16th:

Story so far, we have had 30 ew selections with 2 winners and 4 placed and 5 win selections with no winners and 2 placed. We have staked 65pts and returned 64.75pts. I think the win strike rate for our ew selections is about what I would have expected but the disappointing thing at this halfway stage is that a few more haven’t made the frame, although this week we have been close on a number of occasions including Dudawi Gold yesterday who finished a close 4th at 50/1.

Win Selection (53357): MAGICALMYSTERYTOUR 4.10 BATH 10/1 BET365 & WHILL he’s due a win and has run well on a few occasions this season, his best run was his latest when beaten only just over 1L when 5th.

DIAMOND VINE 5.15 BATH 25/1 BET365 & LADBROKES has been running well all season, has course winning form when ridden by todays jockey David Probert. I don’t normally look at 3yo’s in all aged sprints but as we near end of the season I believe the age gaps are leveling out.

Friday October 14th: Not a great pick yesterday, he never got competitive from his wide draw and coasted home in 10th place.

SPAVENTO 5.20 HAYDOCK 14/1 does a lot of her work on the bridle. Back down to a winning rating and some solid form on heavy going although both her wins have come on Good/Firm.
INSOLENCEOFOFFICE 5.30 REDCAR 33/1+ this is a real longshot that does take a bit of a leap of faith to back on his current form. His last winning rating was 83 and he runs here of just 60, but that is due to his current form which is less than inspiring. His last 6 runs have seen him finish 8/9, 7/11, 15/19, 8/8, 12/13 & 10/10, but those 6 runs have seen his rating drop 21lbs to a career low mark. His AW form is superior to his turf with a strike rate of 4/11 on AW against 0/10 on turf but he has managed 3 2nd’s and 2 3rd’s in those 10 runs and he has Joe Fanning in the saddle which I think is a very significant booking.

All 3 of our horses ran well today but that doesn’t help us very much as we don’t get paid out on good runs!

Wednesday October 12th:

Terrific Tuesday strikes again, Tartan Gigha won at 7/1 after a very good ride from De Sousa and rewarding us with a lovely profit. William Hills were 16/1 on Monday night (15pR4) but you could get plenty of 14’s earlier on Tuesday morning. This puts us in an overall profit of over 20pts so far.

STYLE AND PANACHE 2.10 NOTTINGHAM 20/1 LADBROKES ran over 6F on Monday at Windsor, this return to 5F much more to his liking and a run like his previous effort at Redcar will see him go very close.
MAKE MY DREAM 2.40 NOTTINGHAM no price yet but hopefully 20/1 or better. Not one to trust but is more than capable and well weighted if in the right mood.
MIRRORED 3.15 NOTTINGHAM 16/1 PADDYPOWER been very consistent of late and maybe not so well handicapped nowadays but 16/1 looks a massive EW price.

Tuesday October 11th:

With our selection a NR due to the drying ground, his stable companion and top weight Frognal won the race at an amazing 40/1. Our other selection missed the break and then met a bit of trouble in running, meaning we never really got a run for our money. Lets hope for a little bit of the Tuesday magic we had last week..

GO AMWELL 4.20 HUNTINGDON 14/1 PADDY POWER won this race last year off a 1lb lower mark
TARTAN GIGHA 5.40 LEICESTER 16/1 WILLIAM HILL won a handicap last year off a mark of 99 only 12months later he runs here off a rating of just 75, if he retains any of his previous ability this should be a stroll for him, but his recent form hasn’t been encouraging, but I’m more than willing to take 16/1 and a chance.

P.S. The football team I manage finally won our first game after having lost 5-2, 4-2, 3-0 & 8-1. We won 1-0 and Jacob(my son) scored the winning goal. Dylan’s team Inter Penarth won 4-0 with Dylan scoring all 4 goals.

 
Saturday October 8th:

Ouch that was painful to watch, Laura Pike getting a great run out of Vainglory to snatch victory. I have lost track of the number of times I have tipped that horse this season!

I’m giving one last chance to Barney Mcgrew, Parisian Pyramid is well treated and has a big chance and Viva Vettori is well overdue a win. At Newmarket with Caspar Netscher a 5/1 chance for the Middle Park I’m dipping my toe into the 2yo world and giving Saigon a chance on the basis he has run against Caspar twice this season beating him by a neck once and then being just beaten by him on his last run. As he is trading around the 20/1 mark he looks value. In the big handicap of the day I have done 2, Pheonix Flight who I mentioned earlier in the week but he has a horrible draw in 31 but my other selection Palomar has a much better draw in 11 and ran a cracker in this race last year.

We have 6 selections from 5 different races today who are all big prices so we need to be realistic about expectations. One winner would be great but a place or two would be nice…

Friday October 7th:

Nothing lost yesterday as our 2 hopefuls were abandoned due to the weather, so we remain about 16pts in profit. I have just the one selection today from York, although Barliffey is running today at Carlisle and should he run to the form he showed at Kelso he has every chance of reversing form with Endeavor. On Saturday there could well be a few selections as I’m very keen on a couple at Newmarket and one from York. I’ll try to get that posted Friday night when I have seen the early prices.

Wednesday October 5th

Nice one, a last gasp win at the very decent sp of 11/1, there was plenty of 16’s available early on and even 18/1 at VC with a small R4. Let’s hope we can follow that up today with another winner from our 3 selections. If we are playing to either a 1pt win or 1pt ew on each selection, we would be over 16pts up so far.

Yesterday was a little better with Sole Power flying home too late to grab 3rd and Barliffey running a very good race to reward the EW money with a 2nd at 12/1(plenty of 16’s available early). Hopefully today we can get that illusive first winner, we have two chances but they are both big priced outsiders.
