£100 - Grand for Xmas

My attempt to gamble (by any means possible) £100 to a £1000 before Christmas.

Day 19 (October 17th): The placepot at Newmarket went down on the Cesarewitch despite the horse I backed in the race finishing 2nd. I’ve not quite worked out how I managed to mess this up yet! A stake of £31.60 returned £22.50 thanks to Mamlook (but no thanks to Richard Hughes’ riding tactics!)……Running total £220.02 (Poker £33.94)

Day 18 (October 3rd): I hailed it as punting heaven but the weekend quickly became a punting hell as nearly all of my fancies sunk without trace. Sea The Stars got me a little back in the Arc and along with a non-runner the losses returned at -14.33pts or £28.67……£229.12 (Poker £33.94)

Day 17 (September 26th): The curse of Ascot strikes again for Festival Trends as our selections are all sunk. The Berkshire course has been a real blot on an otherwise good year for the trends and a rethink will have to be made for next year. 4 losers means £23 goes down the drain…….Running total £257.79 (Poker £33.94)

Day 16 (September 25th): A runner from the horses to follow list caught my eye in a big field handicap at Ascot. Placed £5ew at 12/1 on Glowing Praise and watched Frankie bring him home at 9/1. Brilliant! £80 profit…….Running total £280.79 (Poker £33.94)

Day 15 (September 19th): Went with Gary’s choices for the trio of Ayr Sprints but we completely messed the draw up and lost the lot! A bad day with a loss of £22…..Running total £200.79 (Poker £33.94)

Day 14 (September 17th): We came up lucky on the Lottery with 3 numbers for a tenner. Unfortunately the poker took a turn for the worse as I lost 6 out of 8 games…………..Running total £222.79 (Poker £33.94)

Day 13 (September 16th): After watching Derren Browns recent exploits I decided to try my luck on the Lottery. Dylan used his Bingo machine to pick 3 lines out….1) 14-22-27-28-39-43 2) 14-21-25-28-38-43 3) 7-23-32-34-36-44……Running total £212.79 (Poker £50.13)

Day 12 Part II Logged onto Racing Post Poker in the evening to play in their Breeders Cup Tourname nt for $10 + $1. Finished 15th but there was only a first prize so the money was lost. While playing that tournament I entered the freeroll for new depositors where I did much better. Out of 832 starters I finished 7th and won $30 making me +$19 for the night……Running total £215.79 (Poker £50.13)

Day 12 (September 12th) Placed 3 singles and a combination forecast/tricast bet on the Portland Handicap for an £11 stake. Had the 16/1 2nd and so returned £5. Also had a Placepot at Doncaster and missed out on 1 leg. Totally gutted when the dividend paid over £1300. All in all a loss of £13.20….Running total £215.79 (Poker £38.70)

Day 11 (September 9th) In response to a post on the blog I placed a 10p Union Jack Patent bet on 9 selections. 1 non runner and 5 winners meant a very nice return of £21.56 adding another £15.96 to the prizefund…..Running total £228.99 (Poker £38.70)

Day 10 (September 6th) I followed Gary with another big priced selection and £2ew but our luck deserted us when he unseated the rider coming out of the stalls. Not much you can do about that!…..Running total £213.03 (Poker £38.70)

Day 9 Part II (September 5th) I finally got an hour to myself tonight so I played my first ever games on Racing Post Poker. I started off with a couple of $2.50 Heads Up matches (which I Won 1 Lost 1) before realising that it was $ not £ and the stake was only £1.69. At that rate I would be here until Xmas trying to release the Bonus cash! So I moved up to the giddy heights of $5 heads-up where I played 7 games and I’m pleased to say I won 6 of them. 7 wins from 9, not a bad strike rate in anyone’s book and it means taking into account the table fees I won £13.70 ……Running total £217.03 (Poker £38.70)

Day 9 (September 5th) I backed 6 horses with various stakes for a total outlay of £28 and added a 10pew Lucky 63 on them all for good luck. My brother came to the rescue by tipping 20/1 winner Cheveton in a Haydock sprint and my £4ew on him returned £108. The L63 had that winner and a placed horse to return a measly £4.66. Overall a good day though (thanks Gary!) with a profit of £72.06….Running total £217.03 (+£25 poker)

Day 8 (August 28th) 3 each way singles and an ew Patent on Valain, Hoo La Baloo and Notice Given produced a 7/2 winner and a 6/1 placed. This gave a profit of +£4.57…….Running Total £144.97 (+£25 Poker)

Day 7 (August 22nd) The Euromillions was a disaster with no return. I then placed a £4ew bet on Lang Shining and despite being backed into favouritism he was unable to reach the frame….Running Total +£140.40 (+£25 poker)

Day 6 (August 21st) With a big rollover in the Euromillions I’ve decided to buy 2 tickets for tonights draw. My son has used his Bingo machine to pick me some numbers and I’ve placed my 2 lines. Fingers are tightly crossed in the hope that it could be me! Line 1: 10-32-35-45-47 (3/8) Line 2: 2-9-24-33-34 (7/9)

Day 5 (August 20th) Had a 10pew Lucky 15 and £3ew Webbow. Webbow sneaked into the frame and so for my £9 outlay I returned £12.40………Running total £151.40 (+£25 poker)

Day 4 (August 15th) Had £2 on Eyes Like a Hawk who could only finish 4th. …….Running Total £148 (+£25 poker)

Day 3 (August 14th): I used £100 to open a Racing Post Poker Account to which they added a 25% sign up bonus. I then withdrew the £100 to put back in the fund…….Running Total £150 (+£25 poker account)

I will begin playing $3 heads up poker games from Sunday 23rd August. Results will be posted here.

Day 2 (August 12th): I used all 6 free bets from the previous day to back all 6 runners in a Beverley race. The worst result possible occured when 4/1 shot Fin vin de Leu won. At least I had backed him at 6/1 for my tenner meaning I returned £60 ……. Running total £150.

Day 1 (11th August): Backed all 6 runners in a race at Newton Abbot to claim some free bets. Lost £10 when 8/1 shot Safari won. Winning in this instance wasn’t the intention……..Running total £90

August 1st: Running total £100
